More than half of Malaysian internet users have a Telegram account: 56.4% in MCMC's Internet Users Survey 2022, second only to WhatsApp among messaging apps. A bot lets those customers ask you a question in an app they already have open, at any hour.

How it works
1. You create the bot. In Telegram, open @BotFather, send /newbot, and choose a name and a username for your shop. It takes about two minutes and costs nothing. The bot belongs to you, under your own Telegram account.
2. You paste its token into your setup page. @BotFather gives you a token: a long code that lets software answer as your bot. After you subscribe, your private setup page walks you through it: paste the token, and we check it with Telegram, store it encrypted and connect the bot on the spot. You can cut us off at any moment by sending /revoke to @BotFather.
3. You tell us about your business and approve the facts. Your price list, opening hours, delivery areas and the questions customers ask you every day. You check exactly what the assistant will say before it answers anyone. If you already use Jawabkan on WhatsApp or your website, this is already done — the bot answers from the same information.
4. You share the link. Your bot has its own address, t.me/ followed by its username, and Telegram makes a QR code for it. Put them wherever customers find you: your shop counter, your website, your Telegram channel.
What it answers, and what it will not do
It answers anything that is in your information: prices, packages, opening hours, services, delivery areas, how to order. It handles mixed Bahasa Malaysia and English in one message, which is how most Malaysian customers actually type.
It answers private messages to your bot only. If someone adds the bot to a group, it stays silent there, so it never answers a whole group by mistake. It cannot open photos, voice notes or files, so it asks the customer to type the question instead.
It will not invent a price or a promotion you did not give it. It does not take payments or process orders, and it does not give medical advice. To stop one person or a script from using up your plan, each customer can send up to 40 messages a day; after that the bot asks them to contact you directly.
When it cannot answer
You cannot type into your bot's chats from the Telegram app. A bot's conversations belong to the bot, not to your personal account. So when the assistant needs a person, it tells the customer someone will get back to them and asks for a WhatsApp or phone number. You get an email with the conversation straight away, and a second email the moment the customer gives a number, so you can continue on WhatsApp or by phone.
What it costs
Nothing extra. Telegram charges nothing for bots, and the bot is included in every Jawabkan plan: Starter at RM199 a month for 1,000 conversations, or Growth at RM399 for 2,500. Conversations on Telegram, WhatsApp and your website are counted together against the same allowance. There is no setup fee and no lock-in contract.
Your customers' privacy
Your bot sees what Telegram shows any bot: the customer's Telegram display name and what they write. It does not see their phone number unless they type it themselves.
Conversation records are kept for 12 months and then deleted automatically, and you can ask for yours as a CSV file at any time. You are the data controller for your own customers and Jawabkan processes their messages on your instructions. Telegram carries the messages under its own terms.

What is a Telegram chatbot?

Do I need Telegram Premium or a business account?
No. Any Telegram account can create a bot with @BotFather, free of charge.
Does it cost extra if I already use Jawabkan on WhatsApp?
No. Telegram is included in every plan. Conversations on Telegram, WhatsApp and your website come out of the same monthly allowance: 1,000 on Starter and 2,500 on Growth.
Can I reply to customers inside the bot's chat?
No. Telegram does not let anyone type into a bot's conversations by hand. When the assistant needs you, it asks the customer for a WhatsApp or phone number and emails it to you with the conversation, so you continue with them directly.
Will it answer in group chats?
No. It answers private messages to your bot only.
What happens to my bot if I stop using Jawabkan?
It stays yours. We delete the token and disconnect the bot. You can also revoke the token yourself in @BotFather at any time, and use the bot however you like afterwards.
